Sycamore Bark

About This Project

Sycamore Bark

I collect the Sycamore bark that naturally flakes off in plates to obtain the tiles for processing. The creative input is determined by the particularity of these elements which already have plastic and unpredictable forms in themselves. The thin and vibrant surface is left natural, in modulated colors between gray and beige ranges. I like to find the joints of the tiles as if it were a puzzle, or overlap them to create small sculptural thicknesses. The collection also takes the shape of large necklaces that, like a mosaic, adapt to the body like a second skin… of bark.
